Dental checks

Recently there has been a rise in the occurrences of dental disease for cats and dogs, but our nurses are here to help. Keeping your pet’s teeth and gums in good condition can reduce painful dental disease and the need for future dental treatments and potential removal of teeth. During a dental clinic our nurses can:

  • Demonstrate and provide advice on tooth brushing, or other alternative tooth care options
  • Check puppy teeth formation
  • Highlight when it may be time to book in for a dental procedure (e.g. to combat gingivitis, plaque build-up, or tooth damage)

Health checks

During a health check our nurses will check your pet from head to toe. We will check for any signs of pain or discomfort and discuss their appetite and behaviour.

We will check your pets:

  • Eyes
  • Ears
  • Mouth
  • Temperature
  • Heart rate and rhythm
  • Body condition and weight

2nd Vaccinations

Following a 1st vaccination consult with one of our vets, our nurses can carry out a health check and second vaccination. At this appointment we can advise on:

  • Behaviour, socialisation, training, and development
  • Feeding and nutrition
  • Parasite control – advice on preventing fleas, ticks, and worms based on your pet’s lifestyle
  • Neutering

Food Nutrition consultations

Veterinary nurses are fully trained in the science and selection of general diets, and can also advise on diets specifically formulated to assist with the management of numerous diseases.

During a nutrition consultation we can help you body condition score your dog. This identifies their ideal weight, and from that (and information from your pet’s food) you will be able to calculate the amount of food they should be eating.

Weight clinics

Following on from nutrition consultations, our nurses can advise on how best for your pet to achieve weight loss in a way that is safe, controlled, and suits your lifestyle.

With 65% of dogs and 39% of cats being overweight, our nurses are able to offer a weight loss clinic that entails constructing a bespoke weight loss plan and nutritional advice. Continued support is provided for the entirety of your pet’s weight loss journey.

During a weight clinic, our trained nurses will assess your pet, suggest an ideal weight target, and put together a plan to help your pet lose weight. We’ll also help support you during this time with follow up appointments to ensure your pet’s weight is kept on track!

Anal gland consults

Our nurses can help your pet feel more comfortable by emptying their anal sacs. We can discuss ways you can help anal gland problems with dietary alterations.

Nail clips

Clipping your pet’s nails can sometimes be tricky. During a nail clip appointment with the nurse, we can help clip your pet’s nails to ensure they stay comfortable and healthy.

Post-operative checks

After routine surgeries, our nursing team can check wounds to ensure everything is healing nicely.
